CBP-E
« on: June 19, 2011, 03:43:31 PM »
Hi all!
During a few days, I invited people to participate in the project, which will be an episode. He has no name, but we came up with in the end.

Members:

Sanek(me)
Lezing
Mike Norvak
MRCK
DanM
Merlijn
RazorZ
SWV
Mr. Ouja
Joe Grant
Moe Sears
BlackJack

and also we sent invitations to several other people.

Guys, we all came here to do an episode. But it will not be a simple episode, with a clear story. First of all, maps will not be linked at all.We divide the maps into two parts.

First part tells the story, the truly-duke-related story in every particular level.
They will show, where Duke could be :

Map №1: City map.
Map N2: Rock/Mountain Hi-tech map.
Map №3: Spacebase-Mothership map.

Also,we have a special map between these 2 parts. This map will be the Map №4.
The Map №4 will be a nature map with hi-tech base in.This map tells how we can use textures and sprites in unusual way, to make a tiny forest.Lezing and I already started the production.

Second part(Maps №5-6) don't tells any story. It tells about our imagination(sounds stupid, but plz, listen me).I'll try to explain what I mean - we have some pretty good "dream" maps today, like EZ's Dream trilogy or mine 1999Russia...
Like in 1999R we must use the shadows and colors as the main generators of the atmosphere at the maps. As you can see, I use a lot of blue and red colors for the effects. And it's really works! This will be purely an experimental maps for the mappers!

For all episode we use the ExtClut mode. I note that map number 4 already constructed especially for ExtClut.

We split up into two groups, each group with it's supervisor:

Group №1 will works on the the Map №5. I would like to supervise this map. Who want to work on that map, PM me and I explain to you all the details of production.

Group №2 will works on the Map №4,nature map(was in production!). We don't have supervisor for this map. Who wants to be?

We welcome all who join the project.PM' me if you want.

Duke is not dead.
DN3D forever  :)
Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
What do I do?

Eh I didn't know that project you were PM'ing me about was that ambitious. I thought it was just going to be a simple part for a map, like it usually is, with a free theme etc. I won't have the time nor the energy to work on something that big, not to mention that I don't really like to use new features such as ExtClut (which I didn't even know existed). So I guess you can count me out for that one. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Perhaps, we can find an agreement?Nobody said that you, for example, will work on the entire project. Maybe you just do part of the city map when the time comes?
You can not even use Lezing's feauture for it.Relax, it will not soon :).

Please keep me informed, too.
I´m RazorZ, mapper from Finland, big fan of Duke - what else you could be waiting for?

Currently released maps (score is average):
    - Resistance Rocks (89,5)
    - Demolition Plant   (92)
    - Mincer City            (94)

Oh, and I´d like to use ROR in this episode. It´s awesome.

I´m unsure what I´m supposed to do. Am I supposed to start a map or something?

OK

At this moment Mike Norvak worked on map №5, I and BlackJack on map №4, and Joe Grant with Moe Sears and me on the story development of map №5. We don't have any supervisor for map №4, do you want?

Supervising would be OK to me, but I´d like to map, too. Does supervising mean polishing the overall consistency of the map and keeping the focus of the map where it is supposed to be?

ExtClut is actually just a modified palette, and it's quite cool.  Basically, instead of the colors only going up to 24, they go all the way to about 150, so there are tons of available colors.

I think you made the right move by backing out, though...  I have a feeling that this won't get released and it will suck up valuable time mappers could have used for their own projects.

I have shitty taste in my mouth about this episode project too, but I try to be the one not giving up.

Yep.Of course, you can map, and do all what you want. If you 100% want to supervise map №4, Lezing write to you tomorrow. He supervise(and wrote a story with me for) this map for a long time, but he can't supervise it right now...

OK, so basicly Lezing gives me basic instructions how the map is kinda supposed to turn out. Sounds good to me. I´d like to supervise map 100%, no pressures though.

This is getting interesting... yay!

If Lezing is actually involved, that increases the chances of this getting finished by a lot.
