I'm starting this thread a little early; I have about 4 months left before I move. I'll be really busy starting sometime in May, so I may not have much spare time for extracurricular activities. My online status will be questionable after that, as the budget has little allowance for extras like internet service.

I "Gambini'ed" my maps for the last time and won't bother with them again. I changed the barrel puzzles in the first two maps so the player can still progress even if the barrels are shot. Some other minor fixes and adjustments. The last map has a few minor fixes to it.
Grab them here if you want an updated version.

Maps & Other

If you played them before and didn't generally care for them, then don't bother; there's nothing that drastically changed to make you alter your opinion - unless it was screwing up the barrel puzzles that turned you off.

I'll probably toss this "map" in there as well just before I go offline. It's nothing serious or playable, I just work on it for fun in my spare time.

This is not an "invite" for someone to just rip off the whole thing and *cough-sanek-cough* call it their own.

Updating maps is a good thing, and I wish more mappers did it.

Even with a tight budget, I can't imagine giving up internet.  I would give up food first.  Hell, you need the internet to apply for jobs and stuff, so it's a necessity.

That map you say making just for fun has more potential than any other map of yours. The fish food restaurant is really cool and so are the kitchen and other places that, even unfinished, i can see how good they could become.  Do not waste it uploading an unfinished and unplayable copy for everybody. Keep it just in case you find the time to be done with it and provide a great release. Unfinishes maps posted in forums or other things lead to nowhere except spoiling the work.

Really? Internet must be expensive where your moving to! In my neck of the woods you can get a broadband connection for as little as £5 a month.

Yes. Internet is expensive in western Washington. If were just myself, I would cut back on necessities to have network connectivity, but I have a family to cloth, feed, shelter, etc. I won't take away from them.

@ Gambini: I'll just send you a copy instead of posting it up. I've mentioned before that I'm not interested in making anything for public release or to be taken serious. I'm glad that you like some of it, even in it's unfinished state, but I'm only mapping in my spare time for the fun of it.

Only a few weeks left before I bail. I've worked on it a little, but I don't know how much of a difference there is between what you have and the current file sitting on my comp.

I heard you're stepping back from build so I won't bother you with a copy of it. I figured I should mention this since I said I would send you a copy, and I don't want you to think I'm going back on my word.

Even when i quit modding*. I´d love to see your map finished. Send it if you don´t plan to keep working on it, otherwise I´d wait for the finished product.  

*Now I look after bonsai. I water them, cut their roots and clean the leaves. It is certainly more rewarding than modding. I know plants don´t talk, but if they could I´m sure they´d say thanks. Specially because being genetically designed to be several meters tall I sentence them to live in a pot (as best, most times a cut bottle).

Yes, but if you spend two years slaving over a map, then you will get some typed messages on the internet saying how great it is, or maybe even talking about getting stuck in it.  Surely that's much more rewarding than bonsai.

I'm sure I'll have internet again someday, and someday I'll be "finished" with this "map" (basically when I run out of resources).
When that day comes, I'll e-mail you a copy.

As for taking care of plants compared to mapping/modding; I have to side with Gambini on which is more rewarding

Gone in a few days.

I worked on my project a little, most of the doors should work, and I fixed a few of the nastier bugs, so now it's fairly navigable in eduke instead of having to use mapster. I sent you a copy anyway; maybe I'll only be gone for a few months, but then again I could be gone for a year to indefinite. It's not a complete map, but it's something to look at for a few minutes if you get bored enough.

You have been warning that you´ll be gone since months now. That makes it hard to believe. Not that I don´t believe you, it´s just that kind of future things you never expect to finally happen.
