I'm stuck in the building that I opened with the yellow key card. There is another door protected by a yellow lock inside, a non working elevator, and the path past the staircase is blocked.

keep exploring this part of the city, and pay attention to the viewscreens you can find. From the sounds of it you still have a lot of buildings in this area to go through, it's really just the start of the map

I'm stuck there too. I found a jetpack from the library and the viewscreen there suggested I fly to the roof with the yellow key but I had been there already (you can simply jump there by using the ledge). You sure you meant the first yellow lock to be yellow and not blue? I haven't found any use for the blue key yet.

The blue door is in the first city area, in front of the bank where you get the corresponding key, and you get another yellow key there. There are three yellow keys to find scattered everywhere in the level (to unlock three yellow switches in a row), that you need to find in whatever order you want, one of them is easy to get (on the rooftop that you can reach either with the jetpack or by just climbing up the building), one is intermediate (in the first city section, you visit the bank then the bookstore) and the last one is the hardest of them all and involves going through all the buildings in the second city section to unlock the library

edit - I just realized something annoying, the jetpack allows the player to reach a part of the top of the sprite bridge that he isn't supposed to be able to access. It doesn't affect the gameplay in anyway, it's just a bit ugly and dumb. I think I'm not removing it though, the last couple of fights are way too fun with the jetpack

Lol, no wonder I missed the yellow key in the library: I get tons of pitch black textures in EDuke32 these days, and in your map around 30%-50% of all indoor walls were covered in black (not your fault!!). I attached a picture of the library room where the yellow key is (I started hugging walls to to find it). I actually had to check Mapster32 to get out of the first room because I couldn't see the damn fire extinguisher.

Anyways, great map, gonna try to review it tonight although I may want to replay your previous map before that.

Hah yeah it's not the first time I see you talk about getting pitch black textures, that's odd, I have no clue why this is happening, then again I stopped updating my version of Eduke32 a while ago so what do I know

Well it got addressed here a while back: http://forums.duke4.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=775&view=findpost&p=71605

I'll play the map again using DT's suggested method.

LOL, 'textures now become pitch dark at shade 25 and below', while most sprites or walls in my maps are around that mark in general, all the stuff I've released in ten years is going to be unplayable by the majority from now on. Time to make daytime maps I guess

It's only unplayable for morons who use all the "new cool shiny stuff" for classic maps, when they shouldn't.

Finished it. Timer said 35 mins (and 5 secrets out of 6) at the end.

I didn't quite like the progression of the map. Having to open small stuff up with the yellow cards and going back&forth made me feel like I was doing something wrong. Also it took me a while to understand that the 3 buttons unlocked the library (even though you pointed it out with the viewscreens in the book shop on the other side of the town... I guess I should have paid attention).

Otherwise I liked it a lot. Lot's of areas looked really good. Obviously it also felt great to see other parts of our hometown in Duke, and that's something other players won't be able to feel. There is even a couple of references I'm the only one to "get" like "NUGGETS".

Thanks, yeah that's sorta what I meant when I said that I primarily focused on the aesthetics for this one, I only improvised the gameplay at the very end once the design phase was complete. Which isn't what I usually do, I usually have a plan for how the level works and only then I start to design stuff revolving around that central idea, which explains why I guess the progression in my maps is usually better than in this one, I guess you could say this one was more of an artistic outlet. I'm stoked on the firefights though, even though they are bloodbaths more than anything for the most part I find them really enjoyable especially in the last city section where you can just strafe and circle around the central building (with or without the jetpack) and shoot at newbeasts, octabrains and battlelords everywhere all guns blazing, I think it works rather well (maybe because I like tough firefights in Duke in general)

Well I played your earlier levels and found this a tad better actually, really like the design and the calm mood. Anyways, it's been reviewed.

Btw, is the "Pascal m'a tuer" (in Bottles) a reference to this: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affaire_Omar_Raddad (and isn't tuer grammatically incorrect?)
