Your favourite original levels
« on: March 13, 2008, 06:24:59 AM »
Post your favourite original levels.
Both ver 1.3 and Atomic edition.

I'll start :

Fusion station - A very nice ambience in this level. Cool to jump into the holes under the moving gear.

Flood Zone - This level gave me some headache back in the days. Lovely combo of under water / rocky layout.

The Abyss - Seemed HUGE when I first encountered it. Good ambience. Hot battlelord fight.

Freeway - This secret level is a positive surprise towards the end of the game.

Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
What do I do?

E1L3 - Toxic tump - Great gameplay and excellent puzzles and atmosphere! Like a real toxic dump)
E2L4 - Fusion station - made in H.R.Giger style with giger textures (Giger is the man who draw the Alien) Great alien atmosphere!

E3L1 Back in childhood this level seemed to be very nice, and really, gamplay is great.

E4: The delerict and queen - the greatest levels! I've never seen such a mystical and void atmosphere in any other game!
being not scared of death is not enough. Being also not interested in it is much more higher.
Check for interesting stuff (no shitty posts about how i went to shop etc.)

E4L9: Dierliect, Huge boat level that had a very cool atmosphere to it

Rating: 88

E2l4: Fusion station, this was incredible how 3dr managed to pull this theme off, and they did it so well, i love how you have to make it to the top of the tower and blow up the fusion reactor

Rating: 89

E1L1: Hollywood holocaust, this is the level where you first enter and you first see most of the effecs in duke, this is generally the level that made people become a fan of duke. go E1L1

Rating: 90

E4L8: Critical mass, Very good map of a nuculear power plant on the verge of meltdown

Rating: 95

E4L11: Area 51, not a vast majority of people like this level, but it DOES have some very good effects. such as the undergound area You get to launch 2 rockets (not blow up like in launch facility) it had good level design and was one of my favorites., reminded me of the movie "independance day"

Rating: 97

E4L6: Going postal: very Very, VERY cool level, includes the mailmens thoughts on the pet dogs people own in a nicely designed hidden area that was activated while no one was around until the aliens came, It also includes a unique defend-your-base sequence where you have to take on a few "waves" of enemies like in those top down space shooters , you also get two fire switches in your base that fire a line of explosions from the respective holes. very good level

Rating: 98

E1: Basically all levels are kings with the exception of Launch Facility

E2: Warp Factor (could be better with less drones though), Fusion Station, Dark Side

E3: LA Rumble, Freeway... this episode is not as good as the others, but these two rocks. Flood Zone is also good

E4: Great episode, I like all levels and their atmosphere, but Critical Mass and Derelict stand out from the rest.

Hit it on the nose. Once I loaded up and started playing I was hooked.

No, I've chosen the most amusing and funniest levels of my personal taste. If you don't like them, that's another story.

Actually I would like Babe Land if those chicks were organic. I don't know why they were made this way.

As for the others I don't think they have too much quality, however I agree that FoD is kinda funny to play.

3DR came under scrutiny in the original release because you could kill actual helpless people. Im not completely sure if this was their reasoning, but Im betting thats why.
