Red Event Horizon



That's a good start but it doesn't flow. Red Event or Red Horizon sound much better.

Few years ago i started an unfinished map call "Dark Horizon" it could be a good name for the project, althought i think Red Horizon fits better with this map.

I actually really like this,

about the boss fight I don't really know what I should do. I could give all the sectors a lotag of 3 to allow the boss to move or even replace it with an Overlord, to force the player to run around and eventually step on the touchplates but as DT pointed out to me, the player would be able to defeat the boss in no time with the devastator regardless of whether or not it could walk around. The problem is that the player doesn't even have to leave the first section of the room, he can kill the boss by just strafing left and right and taking cover behind the first two pillars in the room. The arena itself looks amazing, and those doors with enemies are a great idea, but it's possible to win without even entering it for good, which sort of defeats the purpose.

I'm going to send the map to Forge and see what suggestions he can come up with. DT, for the record, I've fixed a few extra bugs since the last version I've sent you

If you can defeat the boss without entering the arena, remove or move the devastator and whatever ammo that makes it too easy, and make the boss spawn when you walk on the touch plate.

Actually I think making the boss spawn on the same touchplate that releases the other monsters would be sufficient, no need to take away the ammo.

@MRCK:  The redness is everywhere, it's not just on the horizon, so I think my original suggestion is better.  Plus, "Crimson" starts to sound a little pretentious when it's paired with a longish word such as "horizon" which is why I paired it with "moon".  Not that I'm wedded to that name, of course.  It really doesn't matter to me and I didn't work on the map, so whatever you guys want to use is fine.

Yesss making the boss spawn with the other enemies would definitely be the best option (Y)

I'll wait for Forge's reply to see if he has anything else to report. If he doesn't, I'm releasing this. I'm even going to get the .txt file ready right now

William, Forge made a really good observation about the gameplay in your part : do you mind if I make the area around the main arena toxic, to force the player to go the central area and make the boss / other enemies respawn ? I think it could be pretty awesome, and make the whole experience much more epic in terms of gameplay. But I don't want to alter the look of the room without your permission.
