Duke 23:4 Rides Again
« on: April 29, 2010, 05:16:42 PM »
I need guinea pigs...I mean beta-testers to compare the original puzzle in the train station to the new puzzle I made and let me know if it's better or not. Fixed a few things and added more cameras to make the puzzle (both the train station and the previous barrel puzzle by the wind turbine) more understandable for the problem solving challenged.

Let me know if you're interested.

No, I'm not interested!  >:( What are you nuts? I hate playing the same map twice!  >:(

But seriously everything would be better than the old version so probably it's much better now. Besides you should know if it's better or nor without guinea wildboars!  ^-^ :P

Apparently I have poor judgment of what's good and what's not or I wouldn't have made the puzzle the way I did in the first place. That's why I'm asking for a second opinion.

If you or nobody else is interested, that's fine. It'll just stay the way it is now. If I decide to re-release it at a later date and someone wants to comment negatively about it, then I have the grounds to tell them to shove it.  ^-^

Actually I could take a look and play the map once again :) But tomorrow I leave for a few days so if I won't get it today then probably you will have to wait some time for my comments.

Heh, it's almost like LEAK! :D

Ok, I've just finished your map. I forgot most of its previous version so it was almost like something new.

The gameplay and detailing was great. I don't know how the buttons were placed before in the barrel-puzzle area but I've menaged to find them much quicker now than before and without pointless wandering. So this area is rather quite ok, however I expected one or two buttons at most.

I had more difficulties with these 4 numbered buttons. For a few minutes I couldn't find the button in the toilet cabin but probably it's my fault. Somehow I didn't expect the button to be there and so I missed it. The area in the vent where you get to the pool  with 4th button is also not easy to notice. Also many buttons in your map can be only activated when shot, I don't like it, but it's more like a personal preference than a complain.

Other than that the map is absolutely amazing. Maybe it could use some more interesting skybox but it's really great (Y)

The four buttons by the door are recessed to the point of where they need to be shot because I didn't want the player to be able to activate them through the wall.

Thanks for taking a look. Since "tedious" was absent in your summary, I'm satisfied.

Ok, shortly now -  i've completed it in 23 minutes. Gameplay was great! I haven't found any bugs. I think it is prefect now! Good job :)

Thanks for taking a look.

Glad I didn't have to fix anything and have it tested again. I was ready to coin the term "Gambini" if I had to keep working on a map over and over until it was flawless.  :D
