Duke Nukem Eternity, The first release
« on: March 03, 2010, 07:49:46 AM »
DanM has released Duke Nukem Eternity

http://forums.duke4.net/index.php?showtopic=2065

The zip is the latest, or download the exe and the patch.

A pretty new rig is required to play it using polymer, but it has been reported to be playable without it. Dukeplus 2.07 and HRP are also required.

Luckily you posted it here. Wonder why Danm only released it at Duke4.net

Hmm, there's no way I'll be able to play this with polymer, but I'll see how playable it is without it (if only to see how you've used the new cutscene SE ;)). It will be a shame to miss the dynamic lights though.

The screenshots do look fucking excellent btw! If you're willing to upload some walkthrough video's later on (I believe it was mentioned somewhere on duke4.net) I would be very gratefull.  :)

Damn, probably the best looking TC ever made for Duke Nukem 3D and I can´t play it!

#&!%¤!!!!

I hope it will be also released here at Duke Repository, too, with review (file size is incredibly big, but that´s not a surprise).
I´m RazorZ, mapper from Finland, big fan of Duke - what else you could be waiting for?

Currently released maps (score is average):
    - Resistance Rocks (89,5)
    - Demolition Plant   (92)
    - Mincer City            (94)

Played a little bit of it. It made my rig (2Mhz dual, 4g ram, 9800gtx) whimper and increase the virtual memory size.

I only made it to getting the blue key card.

The wall aligned sprites are all messed up.

First I though the game froze or caught a serious lag because Duke stopped looking around. Then I realized I could still move forward and backward. The game was not recognizing my mouse. I'd have to reach over and hit the panning keys on the keyboard to get the game to "re-connect" to my mouse. It'd work for a while then stop working again. That got old after a bit (especially during fire fights) so I quit.

Other than the messed up sprites, the map looked great.

btw, that's some serious muzzle flash from the mp5

The file size is to big for DN-R.

Maybe Kim is able to do something about that.

I wouldn't add it to DNR as a download till DanM fixes the maps etc or says that it's fine to provide mirrors.

EDIT: Like I was saying.

The latest patch seems to have fixed the wall aligned sprites, but I'm still having issues with my mouse locking up. I'll lower my screen resolution and see if it's a resource problem.

That is a EDuke32 bug, happens whenever your FPS hits 10 or lower and the only way to fix it is getting into an area where the FPS will increase by having to use the keyboard.

It's being looked into.

How annoying. The game runs smooth on my rig, even when I have to use my keyboard to move. I might try playing it solely with the keyboard, but I've been using a mouse for so long, it'll take some getting used to.
