Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
What do I do?

There has been no activity in a few months, and most of the mappers are working on other projects.  I added the Skycar to DP partly because we agreed it would be useful in Imperium.  Now I want to add that new weapon to DP.  I know you guys said you wanted that weapon to be exclusive to Imperium (and then added to regular DP only later) but I am really getting tired of waiting.  I want to be finished with DP.  I want to move on, and little things like this are holding me back.

I brought up the weapon issue quite a while ago at AMC when WG released his space episode.  I said that the BFG type weapon would be nice in his episode, and could I add it to DP now since it didn't look like Imperium was being finished.  But no, I was assured that Imperium is almost finished.  So here we are quite a few months later and it's the same story.  Kaiser did a great job on that model and it is just sitting idle on our hard drives.  (He also did a great job on those Mario Nukem models and I feel badly about that not being released, and I want to go back to work on that).

I don't care THAT MUCH about the weapon being in DP (although the model is very nice).  But I'm really tired of the waste, and also of the lack of communication.

Why don't you guys just agree to let me put the weapon in DP and release it, and then you can release Imperium whenever and use the weapon in it.  At least that way the weapon will be finished.  I'm not motivated at all to code the weapon if it's never going to be released.

So is this dead now or what?  There has been no activity in a few months, and most of the mappers are working on other projects.

The project's been going for years and there have been many periods of silence and apparent inactivity so I wouldn't be worried.
But whatever their future, at the dawn of their lives, men seek a noble vision of man's nature and of life's potential. -Howard Roark

If you remove the question at the beginning of my post, the rest of my post still stands.  In fact I'm going to edit and remove that question now.

DT, if you made the weapon yourself, you should be able to do whatever you want with it.

I didn't make the model.  Kaiser made the model with the understanding that it would be used with Imperium first, then included with regular DP later.  But the model was finished almost a year ago, and the release of Imperium is still nowhere in sight.

Ok, I don't see anyone else from the team replying so:

it's up to Kaiser wether he wants to donate the art to DP, you can implement the code in DP IMO. I have nothing against it.

The thing with Imperium is - most of the leveldesign is done. But as long as that weapon isn't done, adding gameplay is hard to do. Gameplay is pretty inconsistent anyway, since some of the gameplay was already implemented before we switched to DP, while the newest additions make a lot of use of DP-features.. So we need to fix that.

My level (level 5) is actually done (save for some scripted sequences), I've uploaded it a while ago, but no-one has commented on it yet.

The one I'm creating with Maarten (level 6) is almost done, but right now Maartens pc can only run classic duke, so that slows the process down obviously.

Hope that explains enough.

Thanks for the reply.  Adding the weapon is near the top of my Duke modding priority list now, so it will get done fairly soon.  If there's a problem with including the weapon in DP before Imperium is released, then I can just write the code and not include the model.

Yeah for me its pretty pointless building on imperium until the extra stuff is coded in. Its also like whenever we get a new cool idea for imperium, it gets added to DP, and some other person releases a new level with it, and its no longer original.

DT wants to wait till after our maps are done before adding the weapon, but we are stuck with the maps till weapon is done.
So overall this is stuck. And nothing in imperium hasn't been seen before now, I personally don't want the weapon used outside imperium at all, but its not my model, and as far as I'm concerned that would just end up being another reason to not build on imperium. You try to think of something new cool and original and before you can release, its used elsewhere. uck

Why don't you just add it for imperium, and when imperium its finished/ released that can be the final version of DP? :P

The other stuff also needs to be added the loading screens and body models.
