I think I lost or misplaced the original ones you sent me. They're hard to find since there were no text documents included with them.

I remember some of the discussion about the city map. Mostly about the placement of a jet pack near the end and view aligned sprites taking on the shade of parallaxed skies.

I'll take anything you wish to share; I always enjoy a good ck3d map  (Y)

If you want me to build something you have in mind then just say so. I can ninja a 1-megabyte map in 2 minutes with my hands tied behind my back; it's just a matter of psyching myself up to it.

i was thinking of a somewhat three-dimensional kind of map, where the boss would be on stayput at the center, preferably at the top of some elevated structure (a rooftop, or an hovering sprite-based spaceship of some sort), surrounded by a zone of nothingness. That area would be unreachable by the player but it would be surrounded by buildings in a circular fashion, as if it was some sort of city block built around the zone with the boss ; the buildings would have broken walls and windows (some pre-broken, some triggerable by touchplates, for extra action points), and the accessible floors in every building would be at different heights. The player shouldn't be able to shoot at the boss until he reaches the last floor of the last building (or maybe should he only then be authorized to trigger explosion sequences using switches that would hurt the boss, in a Quake-like kind of fashion), on the other hand the boss should ideally be able to fire rockets at the player the whole time in order to force him to be wary of the broken walls on some floors, and to have to try to occasionally take cover. In order to progress throughout the level until he reaches the last floor of the last building, the player would have to solve simple elevator / jumping puzzles, nothing elaborate, just for the sake of action. A lot of explosions, earthquakes and respawn could be used to make it look like the city is being under attack. Flying spaceships going around in circles around the map like in E2L1 or FBSP003.map with ambient sounds would be a great addition. Some wall explosions could be disguised as replicas of these same spaceships crashing against the walls of the buildings, à la kamikaze. That's what I had in mind, but I really don't have the time to do anything Duke-related these days again. I am so busy with stuff that I even struggle to find the right time to do my monthly working hours (thankfully I am home-employed).

Yeah, I remember that concept. I just drew plans (a five-minute sketch on a Post-it note) based on what you said. You mind if I go ahead with it?

go for it. I'm going to have some spare time this week starting on thursday, but I'm so caught up in random work and life projects that I'm not sure I will find the time to do anything duke-related. I haven't even touched mapster since the last map I've sent you. I might try to wrap something up today though, it's raining and I don't have much work to do, plus I've had a few crazy ideas for yet another boss map lately.

Seeing as we haven't had news from MetHy in a while, I just started the last boss map (provided that you are actually going to do the third one, this will be the fourth). I'm not sure I'm going to go anywhere with it, it really is 'out there' and different from what I've ever built so far, but if I don't find anything better to do it could be done by tomorrow easily.

hello Forge, cool to see you post again. I remember sending these maps to you and I still have the email you sent me back with all your detailed feedback somewhere. Yes I sent you the skatepark map and I don't remember what the other one was, but yeah it was probably one of the city maps in the episode. If you want I can send you all the map files we have so far (or at least the ones I've made, including the unfinished ones) so you can have a sneak peak, and play some fresh Duke levels again, I know releases have been lacking lately.

i haven't forgotten about it, i will send it to you asap. I just need some time to sit on my computer and sort out all the map files in my directory, which is something I'm shamefully lazy enough to procrastinate
