FreeRunner standalone MOD.

FreeRunner is a TC of Duke3D using the Build engine with the completely new features that Eduke32 port offers (Directx, great scripting, etc).

So far It's me DavoX (Buenos Aires explosive, CBP7), Geoffrey Van dijk (Fbsp001, 002,003, Night and Day, Project advent, and a long etcetera)  as mappers and DeeperThought (DNWMD, Mario Nukem, Duke Nukem Arena, Duke Ex) as a coder and we need more mappers!!

The gameplay consists on a "Prince of persia"ish type of game, jumping around, doing wall jumps, dodges, mantling on ledges, moving crates to reach high places, etc,etc.

Maps don't need to be extremely detailed or anything, they can be kept simple as long as you use good shading and the flow of the maps is consistent.

So far 6 maps have been completed for this MOD and it's already on releaseable state, BUT it would be extremely nice to have more and more maps for it, that way it'sa nicer package.

Please take a look at the screenshots section of the modDatabase link so you can see this is a quality MOD that you could work on.

One question, though... Why do you have "By DavoX" in the title if it's a team project?

Because I'm an asshole that wants to take credit for everything :).

No, People will be given credit where it's due, I just put "By DavoX" because I started it, the team has no name, and 3 people isn't much of a "Team" per se...if someone else wants to join thein it's a team alright.

I did name the people that were involved, didn't I ?

The name isn't FREERUNNER BY DAVOX. The name is just FreeRunner.

Why don't you pay some attention to release a "polished" mod instead of making tons of maps for it?

Btw, I like the idea for this mod. :)

That's precisely the intention.

I found out that making a shitload of maps had to be my top priority, as that's what I do best. The whole base of the maps is there, believe me when I say all the maps will go through a shitload of polishing before release. Btw Don' t you like them as they are now?

It's not boring, actually it depends on the person playing it.

Anyway I'm trying to think of different gameplay ideas. There will be a map/maps with time limit, that's for sure.

If you have a good idea to implement here, please share.

Don't worry, there will be a timer.  I don't really like it when games just arbitrarily kill you when the time runs out, but time will definitely factor in somehow.  One idea I like is to have a best times board, and perhaps having things that get unlocked when you beat certain times on certain maps.

A scoreboard will rock, even for maps that you don't lose by taking too long to finish them.

Ok guys,  what multiplayer mode you'd like to see?

Some ideas of my own: (Just imagine 8 players jumping around the map doing crazy things! lol)

NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT IN, IT'S JUST ME BRAINSTORMING:


1) Something like bombing run, a team must take a ball to the end of the puzzle before the other team does.

2)Player who scores most checkpoints by the end of the match wins, a checkpoint can be changed color if someone from the other team activates it.

3) Collect the tokens, the team or player who collects them all or has the most by the end of the time limit, wins. Ideally last tokens should be really hard to reach.

4)Cooperative, a team must activate all the safe switches before the room kills everyone.

If you can think of something else, please share :)

And there's no limit regarding maps, I'm trying to make as many as possible, if someone wants to help, he's very welcome!! ;).
